Love Struck is a short film written by Ali Blodwen Jones. The story was inspired by an ancient Welsh folk tale about a beautiful lady who emerges from a lake – the story of Lyn y Fan Fach. Having grown up with the deep rooted love of all things scripts and storytelling heavy in her heart it took the announcement of a search for short film scripts for Ali Blodwen Jones to finally put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard in this case) and bring to life a long forgotten story from her childhood.
Swapping a lake for a playground, a shepherd for an introverted Glyn, a lady of the lake for an enchanting beauty and dialogue for a plethora of rhyming couplets, ‘Love Struck’ has finally been brought screaming into the present day to enchant another generation all over again.
Since studying film and television at university in 2006 Blod has worked on a wealth of Cardiff based television shows as an assistant director including ‘Torchwood’, ‘Dr Who’, ‘Sarah Jane Adventures’ and ‘Merlin’ to name but a few.
A future is now slowly forming in scripts and standup comedy for Blod and a happy grin on her face.
